about International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
For the past 5 years, Little Wings has taken a moment to celebrate, reflect and elevate the messaging surrounding International Women’s Day, recognising that globally, the AVIATION industry is made up of only 5% females. More than that, Little Wings takes a moment to celebrate the many women that volunteer to make Little Wings possible, the mothers and grandmothers that we support via our service and the girls that utilise our service... we hope that when they look up they see women in roles that inspire them... understanding that sometimes you have to see it, to believe it.
So, we use our platform, voice, and community to raise awareness, to empower and inspire women.
meet the women behind the service
Donna has been volunteering with Little Wings since 2023... she is the mother of three young girls all aged under 4-years-old, and has juggled the demands of motherhood, aviation and volunteering all in the name of passion, and her desire to show her children that it’s all possible.
The combination of Donna’s experience, as both a mother and pilot, provides a unique ability to empathise with families facing incredible struggle.

Every year we try to challenge the thinking and expand the conversation around International Women’s Day, particularly women in aviation.
2025 was no different, as we work every day towards equality, we wanted to make sure that we share the journey and learning of our female alleys… the great men that are part of our organisation, navigating this challenging time and whole heartedly working towards greater equality and equity.
