About Containers for Change
Little Wings is in partnership with Containers for Change for the "Fuel Our Planes" fundraising campaign. Our objective is to partner with schools and businesses across QLD to gather qualified drink containers that can be redeemed for a 10c refund under QLD’s container deposit scheme which will then be donated to generate funds to fuel our Little Wings planes. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity for the community to participate in recycling, diminishes litter and support an organisation that offers life-saving support to families.
About Little Wings Emerald Launch
Little Wings is thrilled to launch our partnership with Containers for Change QLD through the "Love Bomb" initiative! From April 13-15th, schools across Emerald Queensland can book us to visit and learn about the Containers for Change program, all while supporting Little Wings. We provide a FREE service for seriously ill children from regional and rural QLD, offering vital air and ground transport to access life-saving medical treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Thanks to our dedicated volunteer pilots, drivers, and event staff, we bring hope and care to families who need it most. Let’s join forces to make a difference—book your school visit above!
About Little Wings
Little Wings is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free, professional and safe flight and ground transport services for ill or injured children in rural and regional QLD. We strive to ease the journey and help sick children access specialised medical services and treatments that are only available in major cities or towns.
We do everything we can to support families by easing the financial burden, emotional strain and travel fatigue that they experience due to the long-distance travel associated with receiving vital medical treatment.
Little Wings is a 90% volunteer led organisation, including 100% of our pilots and 100% of our drivers. Together, we are able to support thousands of families across Queensland each year. But with increasing demand for our service we need your help to assist in fuelling our aircraft.
Little Wings family-baby Koa
In the scenic region of Chinchilla lives a remarkable 1-year-old, Koa. This brave young boy faces a chronic condition known as Type 3 Sacrococcygeal Teratoma, a complex tumour growing within his pelvis and abdomen.
Koa's journey is one of strength and resilience, supported every step of the way by his loving mum, Tayla. Tayla and Koa have made three crucial journeys with the invaluable assistance of Little Wings, a service dedicated to providing critical medical transport.
Each flight has played a vital role in Koa's ongoing treatment, allowing him access to the specialised care he needs. The commitment of Little Wings to this family is unwavering, as they pledge to continue their support for many more journeys ahead. Today, Koa is in remission and thriving.
The story of Koa and Tayla is a testament to the impact of community and compassion, highlighting how organisations like Little Wings make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing daunting health challenges. With each flight, they bring hope, relief, and a promise of continued care, ensuring Koa has every opportunity to thrive.
