Queensland stories
Family Story - Bentley Gladstone
Introducing Bentley, from Biloela, QLD. Bentley was born with a cleft palette but the closest specialist was a 7 hour drive away at Queensland Children’s Hospital. This journey was made easier with Little Wings, offering free and safe transport of Bentley to and from surgery.
Medical wings - Goondiwindi
Little Wings operates in areas across regional Queensland, sometimes flying patients to desperately needed services, other times bringing the services to them. What Little Wings offers is the opportunity for clinics to be held in many of rural and remote areas, providing access to medical professionals. Little Wings has launched medical clinics in regions such as Goondiwindi, easing the pressure on the regional health care system one patient at a time.
plane launch announcement
The Miles Government is ensuring more Queensland kids have better access to vital healthcare, funding a fifth plane for Little Wings. This additional aircraft will enable an extra 800 missions in Queensland annually. The funding will also allow Little Wings to expand its Medical Wings program which delivers pop-up clinics in rural and remote areas.

Volunteer story
Liz is a retired primary school teacher, and has been a beacon of hope and support for families in need since she began volunteering with Little Wings at the QLD Base in July 2023. Liz's motivation to volunteer stems from her own life challenges. She understands the immense pressure and stress of having critically ill family members, as her daughter was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at a young age, and she recently lost her husband to aggressive Melanoma. Now a grandmother, Liz continues to care for little ones and is dedicated to giving back to the community in her retirement.
